Bio
New Orleans’ born film & digital photographer and multi-media artist Penny Michelle Taylor has always had an edge to her eye and naturalness to her work. Carrying a camera around since the age of five, she dreamed of being a National Geographic photographer, traveling around the world, seeing the amazingness of it with her own eye, then photographing it for everyone else to see, too.
A seasoned photographer from weddings to commercial work, to music photography, to being published in books and magazines (Sounds, Melody Maker, etc.) by the age of 18, her work can be found all over the internet in many arenas, as she has a double life as a web site developer, marketer & PR specialist.
Statement
Portland based photographer, visual artist & jewelry maker Penny Michelle Taylor has been capturing the essences of people, places and things for about as long as she can remember. As a child, she would spend her days dreaming, setting up sets and styling many fantastical worlds to photograph, as well as being amazed at the world she happened to capture naturally.
Penny doesn’t just use one medium to tell her stories, she uses as many ways to tell the stories (film, digital photography, video, painting, collaging) as all of the stories she has to tell are very different, from the natural world to surreality, Penny Michelle is able to capture the essence of time, spaces, places…you, here, now…She considers her art, like herself a “work in progress” and has many stories to tell via these “works in progress.”
