Manuela started researching the world of Encaustics 4 years ago and fell deeply in love with this all mesmerizing Medium! She paints with Encaustic on birch panels, pours wax medium on birch panels and carves and applies low/high relief to her pieces. Her work is highly textured and organic. She gives classes and workshops from her Studio @ MilePost5 “The Studios” Building suite 216.
Statement
I hope to provoke a dialogue with the viewer and to illicit a desire to not only look at the end result as well as the creative process that generated it. I like to think that my carved and low /high relief pieces, are pushing themselves up from the panel, to inhabit a more dimensional space and set themselves free from the confines of the board. I love Encaustics with a very deep passion,…the scent of the wax permeating the Studio as I work, the pliability of the medium, the feel of it on my hands and fingers while I carve!
