Kate Fenker began her professional career as a painter in Portland, OR, then again as an entertainer and glam-folk artist in San Francisco, performing with musical theater group Enrique, and encrusting consumer products with sequins. Next, Fenker moved to New York, where she worked with fashion designer Zaldy. Her designs have been worn by luminaries such as Gwen Stefani, Rufus Wainwright, Antony, and RuPaul, and her handcrafted accessories have been featured in W and Vogue magazines. Kate crafts mathematical and abstract artworks from fashion materials, which have been exhibited at PS 122, NYC and MP5, PDX, as well as appearing in Amy Sedaris’ book Simple Times, and Lela Nargi’s Astounding Knits!. Currently, Kate is working in stop-motion animation at Bent Image Lab in Portland, OR, and continues to generate alarming, pseudo-organic forms in a variety of materials.
